Fundraising is a HUGE component to the Laney Wrestling Program. ALL wrestlers are encouraged and expected to participate in any team fundraising initiatives.

We want to take a quick moment to acknowledge quite a few wrestlers that have stepped up and volunteered their TIME so far this season. Their efforts are EXACTLY what we need to be doing to raise funding for both teams. THANK YOU to the following for stepping up!:

FUNDRAISING - We know no one likes to use the "F" word but...fundraising is a HUGE component to the Laney Wrestling Program. ALL wrestlers are encouraged and expected to participate in any team fundraising initiatives. YOU CAN DONATE MONEY, YOUR TIME, OR BOTH!!!
NOT ALL FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES INVOLVE OPENING YOUR WALLET!! WE UNDERSTAND THAT SOME FAMILIES CANNOT CONTRIBUTE MONEY SO WHENEVER POSSIBLE, THOSE FAMILIES CAN DONATE THEIR TIME!!
For your awareness, Laney School Administration only pays for bus costs to travel to and from CONFERENCE matches (Ashley, N Hanover, Hoggard, Topsail, and Brunswick schools). The school does not pay for anything outside of our regular conference schedule (ie; Homer Spring Bulldog, Carolina Clash, Sgt Mark Adams, Vernon Walworth, etc). The school does allow us to participate in non-conference events with the understanding that funds will be pulled from our Laney Wrestling account. Simply put, if we don't have the money in our account, we will have to cut events from our schedule.
We have about ~14 non-conference events on our regular season schedule. Any money raised by Laney Wrestling is used for such things as non-conference tournament entry fees (varsity, girls and JV separately), bus/gas fees, hotel accommodations for wrestlers and coaches, sometimes used to buy t-shirts for the team, gear/equipment/uniforms (if needed). We do NOT use Laney Wrestling funds for meals (except on special occasions).
Bottom line, both our girl's and boy's teams are championship teams and we purposely seek out competitive events. Because we are located in Wilmington, that means traveling and overnights often as far as Raleigh or further. And that means we need to all work together to secure enough funding for the season. This year we will have MULTIPLE opportunities to raise needed funds and as mentioned, not everything involves $$. Again, volunteering your TIME is an amazing way to support our teams!!:

LAWN SIGNS!! - We still have four (4) LAWN SIGNS available for purchase!! Please see details below:
Signs are large, made of durable, weatherproof plastic, and will be a FANTASTIC way to show your support of our amazing teams throughout the season! Put one in your yard...get 2 and display another at your place of business...or gift to family members!
Cost - $30 ea or 2 for $50
Signs are 18" x 24”, Full Color, and Double-Sided.
They can be used Indoor or Outdoor, and a Steel, H-Stake is included

INFLATABLE TUNNEL SET UP - Wrestling has been assigned four (4) participation dates to assist at the football games and we need five (5) volunteers for each date (9/4, 9/18, 10/16, 10/30). Volunteers are still needed!! Please contribute your time if you are able!
Our teams will earn $100 for EACH EVENT! ($400 TOTAL!!)
Arrive at 6:00 pm
Volunteers will roll out the tunnel, inflate it and once the football team runs through, you deflate, press out ALL the air, and fold it back up for storage. THAT'S IT!
Volunteers will get in FREE to the game!!
Student Athletes CAN AND SHOULD VOLUNTEER!! GRAB A FRIEND OR 2, DO THE QUICK PROCESS AND YOU ARE FREE TO GO WATCH THE GAME!!
Volunteers should be big enough and strong enough to maneuver the inflatable

CONCESSIONS - Laney Athletic Boosters routinely calls for volunteers to run concessions for ALL home events scheduled. This is a super easy way to donate a few hours of your time and make a fundraising contribution (without opening your wallet). This is EASY money folks...all it takes is a few hours of your time!!

LANEY ATHLETIC BOOSTERS PARTICIPATION - PLEASE consider joining the Laney Athletic Boosters. We are striving for 100% family participation this season and encourage ALL of our wrestling family to join, represent us, and ensure that we have a voice as decisions are being made that affect our sport.

The minimum cost for families to join is only $25…Coaches, you can join for only $5!!!
Boosters helps ALL athletic teams with things like supplemental funding for end of season parties, the Maryann K. Nunnaly Scholarship and Al O'Briant Scholarship opportunities for Seniors, and Concessions at home events (including postseason if needed) but for us specifically, wrestling has recently received some AMAZING gifts:
LARGE speakers that we use at duals and other team events like beginning and end of year gatherings
"Window cling" graphics to display in our wrestling room
2 large rolling carts
Laundry detergent to wash ALL our uniforms for the entire season
Labels and zip ties for organization and labeling our Wrestling gear
2 large coolers
Refrigerator
A MASSIVE "LANEY WRESTLING" flag that we bring to competitions for display

Team registration for the 2026 Laney on the Links Golf Tournament is now open to the public!
This year's tournament will once again be held on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
Laney organizers are excited to share some big news for this year's tournament—Brand Jordan has expanded its partnership with us and will have a much larger presence throughout the event. They'll be joining us on the course and have some exciting surprises planned for everyone throughout the day.
In addition to team registration, we also have a variety of sponsorship opportunities available for businesses and individuals who would like to support Laney High School while gaining exposure at one of the area's premier golf tournaments. If you're interested in becoming a sponsor, we'd love to have your support.
If you'd like to register your foursome or explore sponsorship opportunities, we encourage you to do so soon, as spots are limited and tend to fill quickly.

TRUFIT CLEANUP EVENT - THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SIGNED UP!!!! We have coordinated with the TruFit Porters Neck team on the TRUFIT CLEAN UP EVENT, a fundraiser initiative that COSTS NOTHING TO US!! In return for our TIME and some effort, our program will receive a donation!
