Date:  Friday and Saturday, January 16th and 17th, 2026

     AL Brown High School

Hotel:  Wrestlers will be staying at the below hotel for anyone interested in staying with the team.

Schedule:

Friday, January 16th:

• Women's Varsity will be released from class at 9:00a and should report immediately to the practice room to check weight and help pack the bus.

• Weigh ins - 4:00p

• Wrestling starts - approximate ~5:00p

• Wrestlers will return to the hotel at the completion of Day 1

Saturday, January 17th:

• ALL wrestlers are anticipated to leave the hotel at approximately 6:45a to load the bus for the event. ** If this time changes, Coaches will send a google chat directly to the wrestlers.

• Weigh ins - 7:30a

• Wrestling starts - **no time provided but assume approximate start ~9:00a

• Wrestlers will load the bus and return to the hotel at the completion of the tournament 

Format: 2-day, seeded and bracketed, double elimination tournament. 

• Friday - will wrestle two (2) championship rounds on four (4) mats 

• Saturday - first two (2) consolation rounds on four (4) mats then reducing to two (2) mats for the remainder of the tournament

Passing along some additional tournament details we have just received:

Tickets: Our school is a cash only venue. Additionally, mats will be in multiple locations so spectators MUST keep their ticket stub as there will be a second person in this area checking tickets for entry throughout the day.

• $10

• Cash only

Concessions: There will be full concessions serving biscuits and sausage dogs for breakfast and burgers and hot dogs for lunch.

Format: Dual team tournament. Two (2) mats in the gym and there will be a 3rd mat in the cafe. The cafe is a short walk from the gym and the area is smaller, so they have scheduled the smaller teams to be in this area to avoid extra congestion.

CONFERENCE TEAM DUAL @ WEST BRUNSWICK - Please spread the word and let’s fill West's gym with Laney BLUE AND GOLD!!!! 

• Date: Wednesday, 1/7

• Place: 

West Brunswick HS

• Time: 5:00p start time

• Wrestlers will be released from class early (time TBD) and should report immediately to the practice room to check weight and help pack the bus

• West Brunswick is almost 1hr from Laney by car.

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual West and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0)   I recommend spectators arrive by 5:00p to support ALL our wrestlers

• Women - I believe West has about 5-6 girls so that dual should move fairly fast with multiple forfeits. 

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

• Snack/water Donations: THANK YOU to the Noe family for donating waters. We still need a family to bring healthy snacks. Please click on the link above to sign up! 

• WRESTLERS AND FAMILIES, PLEASE PLEASE, AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE EVENT, TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK AROUND THE BLEACHERS AND PICK UP ANY TRASH THAT YOU SEE.

• Cary has historically been great about letting spectators bring in coolers/outside food but I noticed a comment in their event info that coolers/food/drinks were not allowed in the gym so be prepared.

• Definitely bring your phone charger. Parents, bring your seat cushion. 

• Seating is VERY TIGHT in the main gym but in the past there has been alternate seating on the balcony area if they utilize that space.

• Gyms are either freezing or boiling hot...prepare like a boy scout.

CAROLINA CLASH TOURNAMENT DETAILS (MEN'S VARSITY (including alternates) & WOMEN):

• Women's tournament is an individual format on Tuesday ONLY. 

• Men's varsity will compete in a "super dual" which consists of 9 team duals, from various states, over 2 days. Due to the format, in addition to the 14 men's starting weight classes, additional wrestlers are being determined and Coach Adams will let the individual wrestlers know if they are expected to attend.

• Venue has stadium seating (seats with backs) but last year they were VERY DIRTY AND DUSTY (it's a horse arena) so you might want to bring something to wipe down your seat

• Definitely bring your phone charger. This will be a looooong event!!

• Last year, the arena was freezing. This year, it may be boiling hot...prepare like a boy scout.

• We still need families to sign up for waters and snacks!!

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual Hoggard and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0)   I recommend spectators arrive by 5:00p to support ALL our wrestlers

• I think Hoggard only has 3-4 girls so that dual will move very fast with multiple forfeits. 

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

HOME DUAL VS TOPSAIL  - **BIG RIVALRY HERE…Please spread the word and let’s fill our bleachers with Laney fans!!!! We need to fill our gym with Laney BLUE AND GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• ALL wrestlers are anticipated to be completely packed up and leave the hotel at approximately 6:45a to load the bus for the event. ** If this time changes, Coaches will send a google chat directly to the wrestlers.

• Wrestling starts - 8:45a

• Teams will load the bus and return home at the completion of the tournament

Format: 

• Each team will wrestle five (5) dual meets. Four (4) mats will be used for the duration of the tournament.

Awards: 

• Plaques to the team champion for both Men and Women.

• We have never attended this event so my information is pretty limited.

• PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN OVERNIGHT EVENT!! SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP FOR THIS EVENT IS REQUIRED AND DUE BY TUESDAY 

• Wrestlers will be on their best behavior at all times. There will be consequences for any misbehavior which could include removal from the team.

• Coaches will announce a "lights out" time at night and wrestlers will be monitored by chaperones at the hotel. 

• Wrestlers MUST have money for concessions/meals!!

• Wrestlers should also be packing their personal coolers for a full-day event!! Yes, we will have the snack boxes but as a reminder, these boxes are only intended to SUPPLEMENT what the wrestlers personally bring. 

• Panther Creek HS is about 2 hrs from Laney by car

• I believe Wake County has a "clear bag" policy for spectators

• Definitely bring your phone charger. Parents, bring your seat cushion. Saturday will be an all day event!!

HOME CONFERENCE DUAL VS SOUTH BRUNSWICK - **Ya'll, this is our 1st of only 4 home duals of the regular season. Please spread the word and let’s fill our bleachers with Laney fans!!!! 

• Date: Wednesday, 11/12

• Place: Laney High School, MJ gym

• Time: 5:00p start time

• Varsity Men and Women - report to the practice room immediately after school

• JV Wrestlers - report to the MJ Gym immediately after school to help set up for the dual

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual South Brunswick and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0) I recommend spectators arrive by 5:00p to support ALL our wrestlers

• South Brunswick historically has had a rather large women’s team

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

• Snack/water Donations: We are covered for snacks and waters for this dual. THANK YOU to the Kiser/Willis, Nelson, Sarvis, and Noe families!!

• WRESTLERS AND FAMILIES, PLEASE PLEASE, AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE EVENT, TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK AROUND THE BLEACHERS AND PICK UP ANY TRASH THAT YOU SEE.
