• Wrestlers should report to Laney no later than 6:45a to check weight and help pack the bus. DO NOT MISS THE BUS!!!

• 2:00 pm - Women Weigh-in (ALL 5 CLASSES)

• 3:30 pm - Women's 1st round (2 mats per class)

• ~6:00 pm - Women's championship semifinals, then 1st round consolations (2 mats per class)

• ~8:00 pm - Women's wrestling ends

• Men will NOT compete on Day 1.

• Wrestlers will return to the hotel after the completion of Day 1.

Friday, February 20th:

• 7:30 am - Women's weigh-ins plus 1A/2A Men's weigh-ins

• 9:30 am thru 1:00 pm - 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A weigh-ins and championship quarterfinals (5 mats)

• 1:30 pm - 7A/8A Men's Weigh-ins

• 3:00 pm - 7A/8A Men's championship quarterfinals (5 mats)

• 4:30 pm - All 7 Men's classes; championship semifinals, followed by Women's 3rd place matches

• 6:30 pm - Women's parade of champions, followed by Women's finals and awards

• 10:00 am - All 7 Men's classes; 1st round consolations (all 10 mats)

• 12:00 pm - All 7 Men's classes; consolation semifinals (all 10 mats)

• 2:00 pm - Mats reduced to 7

• 3:00 pm - Men's 3rd place matches (7 mats)

• 5:00 pm - Men's parade of champions, followed by championship finals and awards

• Women will NOT compete on Day 3.

• Wrestlers will return to Laney at the completion of the tournament. ** If this changes, we will let everyone know

Format:  Individual tournament, double elimination format. 7-10 mats will be used for the duration of the tournament.

• THIS INFORMATION IS FOR MEN'S & WOMEN'S STATE QUALIFIERS

• Only competing wrestlers are permitted to ride the bus but teammates are absolutely welcome to come and cheer on our qualifiers!!

• PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 3-DAY OVERNIGHT EVENT!! SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP FOR THIS EVENT IS REQUIRED. I will send out the form as soon as I receive it.

• Wrestlers will be on their best behavior at all times. There will be consequences for any misbehavior which could include removal from the team.

• Coaches will announce a "lights out" time each night and wrestlers will be monitored at the hotel. 

• Wrestlers MUST have money for ALL meals!! The Coliseum food is EXPENSIVE!!!

• In case I haven't mentioned, the COLISEUM IS CASHLESS!!!  :0)  Per the Coliseum website, "A debit or credit card will be required for payment. Contactless and mobile payment options, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, will be accepted at most payment terminals."

• Wrestlers should also be packing their personal coolers for a 3-day event!! Yes, we will have the snack boxes but as a reminder, these boxes are only intended to SUPPLEMENT what the wrestlers personally bring. 

• Greensboro is about 3 hrs from Laney by car

• Longest tournament yet...3 days of action. Bring your credit card and your patience.

• Coliseum staff WILL search bags with the tenacity of a TSA agent and metal detectors are used.

• Our team will be seated in and in front of Suite 128.

CONFERENCE TEAM DUAL @ NORTH BRUNSWICK - This is our last regular season team dual and only 30 minutes away!! Please spread the word and let’s fill North's gym with Laney BLUE AND GOLD!!!!

• North Brunswick is only about 30 minutes from Laney by car.

• Women - North only has 2-3 girls so lots of forfeits and your dual will move very quickly.

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0)   I recommend spectators arrive by 5:00p to support ALL our wrestlers

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

HOME CONFERENCE TEAM DUAL vs NEW HANOVER - This is our last home dual of the season! Please spread the word and let’s fill our gym with Laney BLUE AND GOLD!!!!

Tickets: Our school is a cash only venue. Additionally, mats will be in multiple locations so spectators MUST keep their ticket stub as there will be a second person in this area checking tickets for entry throughout the day.

Concessions: There will be full concessions serving biscuits and sausage dogs for breakfast and burgers and hot dogs for lunch.

Format: Dual team tournament. Two (2) mats in the gym and there will be a 3rd mat in the cafe. The cafe is a short walk from the gym and the area is smaller, so they have scheduled the smaller teams to be in this area to avoid extra congestion.

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual West and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0)   I recommend spectators arrive by 5:00p to support ALL our wrestlers

• Women - I believe West has about 5-6 girls so that dual should move fairly fast with multiple forfeits. 

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual Hoggard and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0)   I recommend spectators arrive by 5:00p to support ALL our wrestlers

• I think Hoggard only has 3-4 girls so that dual will move very fast with multiple forfeits. 

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

HOME DUAL VS TOPSAIL  - **BIG RIVALRY HERE…Please spread the word and let’s fill our bleachers with Laney fans!!!! We need to fill our gym with Laney BLUE AND GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Schedule:

Friday, November 14th:

• Women & Men's Varsity (and alternates) are anticipated to be released early ~3:00p and will report immediately to the practice room to check weight and help pack the bus. 

• Teams will travel to hotel

Saturday, November 15th:

• ALL wrestlers are anticipated to be completely packed up and leave the hotel at approximately 6:45a to load the bus for the event. ** If this time changes, Coaches will send a google chat directly to the wrestlers.

• Weigh ins - 7:30a

• Wrestling starts - 8:45a

• Teams will load the bus and return home at the completion of the tournament

Format: 

• Each team will wrestle five (5) dual meets. Four (4) mats will be used for the duration of the tournament.

Awards: 

• Plaques to the team champion for both Men and Women.

Potential Teams: 

• Men's Varsity - Panther Creek, Apex, Carrboro, Franklinton, Gray's Creek, Laney, Northern Guilford, Ragsdale, S Garner, Southern Alamance, Uwharrie Charter, Washington

• Women - Panther Creek, Apex, Franklinton, Laney, Ragsdale, S Garner, Southern Alamance, Union Pines, 2 more TBA

• We have never attended this event so my information is pretty limited.

• PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN OVERNIGHT EVENT!! SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP FOR THIS EVENT IS REQUIRED AND DUE BY TUESDAY 

• Wrestlers will be on their best behavior at all times. There will be consequences for any misbehavior which could include removal from the team.

• Coaches will announce a "lights out" time at night and wrestlers will be monitored by chaperones at the hotel. 

• Wrestlers MUST have money for concessions/meals!!

• Wrestlers should also be packing their personal coolers for a full-day event!! Yes, we will have the snack boxes but as a reminder, these boxes are only intended to SUPPLEMENT what the wrestlers personally bring. 

• Panther Creek HS is about 2 hrs from Laney by car

• I believe Wake County has a "clear bag" policy for spectators

• Definitely bring your phone charger. Parents, bring your seat cushion. Saturday will be an all day event!!

• THANK YOU to the Kiser/Willis, Myers, Sarvis, Thomas, and Goodlow families for signing up to bring snacks and waters. 

• On tournament days, make Trackwrestling your friend.

HOME CONFERENCE DUAL VS SOUTH BRUNSWICK - **Ya'll, this is our 1st of only 4 home duals of the regular season. Please spread the word and let’s fill our bleachers with Laney fans!!!! 

• Date: Wednesday, 11/12

• Place: Laney High School, MJ gym

• Time: 5:00p start time

• Varsity Men and Women - report to the practice room immediately after school

• JV Wrestlers - report to the MJ Gym immediately after school to help set up for the dual

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual South Brunswick and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0) I recommend spectators arrive by 5:00p to support ALL our wrestlers

• South Brunswick historically has had a rather large women’s team

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

• Snack/water Donations: We are covered for snacks and waters for this dual. THANK YOU to the Kiser/Willis, Nelson, Sarvis, and Noe families!!

• WRESTLERS AND FAMILIES, PLEASE PLEASE, AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE EVENT, TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK AROUND THE BLEACHERS AND PICK UP ANY TRASH THAT YOU SEE.
